Hi, I’m Collin Monda, and I’m a filmmaker & musician in the Pacific Northwest.
→ With a passion for craft, and a relentless curiosity in the rich nuance of real people, my work aims to humanize controversial characters and forage for elusive truths in the torn landscapes of our divided society.
I’ve learned to design every inch of how a story unfolds on the screen, from cinematic live-action to handcrafted animation, and the delightfully surreal spaces where both intersect.
Hence: “Paper+Reverie.”
After decades of experimenting with the magic of time-based media, I bring my hands-on experience across every position from the story to the score, into how I operate in the director’s chair.
On a whim in 2013, I set out to make my first feature documentary, the award-winning The Trouble with Wolves. It was hailed among 38 film festival selections for ‘transcending its own subject.’ Its narrative-influenced style and uniquely empathetic storytelling defied black-and-white thinking and hero/villain structures, bringing audiences divided over the issue into conversations of coexistence that were not possible prior.
At Papereverie Productions, I bring both narrative and documentary lenses to frame rare stories that connect us, hopelessly quixotic that film can help us reinvent ourselves, to arrive at a place we haven’t seen yet.
Three to see.
Three of my favorites from two decades of filmmaking. These are the ones I’d make again in a heartbeat; these are the ones you could expect in a creative partnership together.

The Trouble With Wolves
Death threats, court battles, and an iconic endangered species in middle. The Trouble With Wolves takes an up-close look at the most heated and controversial wildlife conservation debate of our time.
MAN or MOUNTAIN
Defying evacuation orders and denying scientific evidence, notorious lodge owner Harry R. Truman is sent cascading through memories of a life lived without regret on Spirit Lake, as mounting tremors rock his cherished world.
Still basking in the limelight of his rebellion, imminent cataclysm calls him to finally face the bet he made against the very force of nature he built his life around.
“This is the Northwest” | Clipper Vacations
Rather than a traditional commercial, the film unfolds as a love letter to nature and adventure. It explores the connection between people and the landscapes they traverse, inviting travelers to step away from the noise and embrace the world waiting just beyond the shoreline.
“We believe that [The Trouble With Wolves], which includes interviews with ranchers, wildlife biologists, state wolf management, and Yellowstone Wolf Restoration leaders, presents the most balanced, respectful film to date about coexistence."
— Director of Communications, Wolf Haven
“ I was really moved by your openness to listening to and learning from different perspectives on this issue as you made the film. I'm so impressed with how you have imbued the finished product with this approach, without centering yourself.”
— Director, Sound Policy Institute
“I'm impressed with all you've got going with The Trouble with Wolves — and your passion for co-existence with wildlife.”
— Former Editor, National GeographicAfter-hours.
From years of long-distance longing, my wife and I turned our falling in love era into sound.
Taking lyrics from our archived letters, texts, and voicemails together, our music project, Bookmarks, releases indie pop that feels like a private conversation.
Our sound is a blend of dream pop atmosphere and folk-tinged intimacy. We’ve been honored by comparisons to the ethereal textures of Beach House and the moody trip undertones of Portishead.
From scoring films to soundtracking the quiet moments of real life, we brought Bookmarks back in 2026 with new music that continues our exploration of distance, devotion, and the spaces in between.
